The Center for Korean Studies (CKS)
Center for Korean Studies:
Mission and Vision
The Center for Korean Studies (CKS), based at the International University of Erbil, aims at promoting interdisciplinary and intercultural approaches to Korean studies in the fields of anthropology, architecture, art, Asian studies, communication, economics, education, history, language, linguistics, literature, management, political science and sociology.
CKS facilitates the academic exchange between Korea and Kurdistan. In last fifty years Korea achieved a sound democratic system after the complete destruction of its infrastructure during the Korean war. Currently, Korea is the 11th largest economy in the world. The goal of CKS is to bring the experience of the success of Korea to Kurdistan. Due to the similarities of the historical background the cooperation between two nations will create effective and direct contribution.
With the largest concentration of Korean scholars and resources at any academic institution outside of Korea itself, the Center is first institution for the study of Korea in the Kurdish region and Iraq. Among its activities, the Center hosts scholarly conferences, sponsors research projects, presents seminars, and lectures and publishes significant research on Korea.
CKS will contribute to the building of a strong and a long lasting relationship between two nations as well.
